Week 1 & 2

The adventure began last week. Tuesday I got my Food Handler’s Card, went to city hall to see about a license and met my partner for discussion.  It seems like a blur, but after that we baked for 3 days – till 1 am! Set up for the Farmer’s Market and sold out of bread in 45 minutes.
We were in shock for at least 3 days and when 4-5 seperate opportunities presented themselves we were so overwhelmed.  Rose (my partner in crime) and I haven’t been able to figure out what we will pursue as baking began again last night and will continue through tomorrow night to sell on Sat.

We will meet this coming Tuesday with a represenative from the Small Business Administration.  We hope to present all the opportunities and have his wisdom available as we sort through all the constraints and possibilities.

Rose is the creative brilliance in our duo and I am the logistical/business person.  She comes up with some amazingly fun/creative items to sell and I do the math to be sure they will make us a profit!  Totally a great pair!

Who would have thought that a recession would allow us to consider being a new business?  We each invested $200 and are paying it off in the first 2 weeks of business.  That will make me feel better and will make  our bottomline/take home grow!

I plan to update here as I bake.  I need something to keep me busy as I wait between bread rising, starter growing and bread baking!
